Resident and Community Programs

Sonya A. Barnette, Vice President, Resident and Community Programs, is responsible for the oversight of multiple grant funded programs that include, Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH), Continuum of Care, Directions Home, Health Community Collaborative, Single Room Occupancy (SRO) and the Family Self-Sufficiency/Homeownership program.  Sonya and her team also work in collaboration with Tarrant County College and area employers to provide educational and vocational opportunities to Fort Worth Housing Solutions (FWHS) clients. As a member of the executive team, Ms. Barnette supports the mission and vision of FWHS to provide affordable housing communities to the city of Fort Worth.

Sonya is a native of Boston Massachusetts and a graduate of that city’s Suffolk University and has always had a passion for people, whether it is mental health, social work or being advocate for the most vulnerable populations.  For over 22 years Ms. Barnette has dedicated her life to helping others.
